John Jacobsmeyer

The following woodcuts and wood engravings are a sampling of the approximately eighty images that comprise the novel in woodcuts, "Soliloquy" based on James Dickey's poem, "Sheep Child". Each print represents a creature communicating in American Sign Language(ASL). The book plates are engraved from end-grain hard maple blocks taken from one 40 year-old tree harvested in a New Hampshire forest in 2001. They are all printed on Japanese Gampi Torinoko Paper. This is a work in progress and subject to changes.
